VASCO-DA-GAMA

This is named after the discoverer of the sea route to India, Vasco-Da-Gama. This is about 25kms from Margao city and quite close to the Mormugao Harbour. The city is streamlined with big and shady avenues, all tarred paved streets and spacious footpaths. Dabolim Airport is located in the city.
Marmugao Harbour, situated on the west of India, and one of the best harbours on the west coast of India. This Harbour is the principal focus of economic avtivity in Goa. Export of iron and manganese ore is the main activity. Building and repairs of barges is an important ancilliary activity of Marmugao.

The garden and children's park are the pleasant spots for relaxation. The main attraction of the city are Ayyappa Temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. Utsavam festival is celebrated annually during December and January months and large number of people gather to Celebrate this.

Lakshmi-Narayan temple This belongs to the 16th Century and is situated in the foot of the hillock quite close to the Panaji-Ponda road. It stands in the midst of all her beauty and glory. These surroundings enhance religious meditation. A spacious water tank in front of the temple is constantly fed by a spring. The principal festival held at the temple is that of Ramanavmi, Akshaya tritya, which attracts large number of people.

St.Andrew Church stands in the heart of the city. The statue is said to have been established in 1570. A fest is celebrated on the Sunday closest to the 30th November every year.
