Major Cities - Margao

Margao city is 33kms from panaji and is located in south goa which is a commercial metropolis. It is linked by rail to Vasco and Mormugao harbour on one side & pune via Londa on the other side. The city is surrounded by villages and climate is good and specially the outskirts are very cool and pleasant as there is extensive coconut grooves and paddy fields.

There are large number of hotels, restaurants, boarding and lodging houses. It is famous for its ancient cultural heritage and traditional customs of the people of Goa.

The city is well connected to the rest of the Indian sub-continent by rail. The main attractions in this city are The Holy spirit church, which is dedicated to the Holy Spirit and has impressive architecture. A fair is held annually with all traditional glory.

Keserval Spring, is around 10kms from Margao city and situated at Verna-Panaji Highway.

Hari Mandir, is located by the side of the Margao-Aquem road and is near the new bazaar. This mandir is believed to be about 60 years old and "Dindi" festival is held annually with all traditional glory. A procession is attended by thousands of devotees from all parts of Goa.

Damodar Temple, is dedicated to Damodar is located in the Margao city. Every monday in the month of Shravan a huge gathering assembles here to pay homage to the deity and bhajans are sung when number of devotees assemble at the temple.

Colva Beach, is located around 6kms from margao city which is a main tourist attraction of South Goa. Fringed palm trees, nodding in the winds, its hallmark is the silvery white sand that gives it a special charm.
